Family walk in the Paskamansett woods

It finally happened - a trail walk with a dog, all together, like a family.  If you know me, you know that I own a barking dog. Moreover, he uses his barking talent mainly in the car. Therefore, we, or rather I, take him in the car only if absolutely necessary - to the vet or to a shelter. And yes, sometimes I take him for a ride with me. We planned a family walk to the forest on January 1st. The trip did not happen. Daniel couldn't stand Crackle's barking, especially in the enclosed space of the car. It's really loud. What happened on Sunday? Or rather, how did it happen? Two calm down dog treat-pills, my patience of a saint  and two different cars. And voila! The three of us are in the forest, well, not counting the rest of the walkers. The pills didn't help. Maybe they should have been fed to the dog earlier, maybe more of them... even making a stop in the park and a short walk didn't help. It took us a while to find the right place where we wanted to walk.  Th...

Snow Day in mid-February

I already thought that winter was over. But no, Tuesday's snowstorm is a great example of New England's tricky winter. The employer announced a “snow day".  A day at home in bad weather is the best time to write a post. But apparently not for me… I have a friend who is constantly worried about something. According to her husband, “worry” is her second name. I think I have something similar. At first, I was worried whether they would declare a “snow day” or not*. Then I was worried about how I would get to the hospital (it was my annual)....in the snow. When I returned home, I was worried if we would have time to clear the sidewalk  of snow before it starts to freeze onto the asphalt. I could continue this list, but I won't. All these worries greatly affect my mood and motivation. I'm even afraid to think about how many things I haven't done. I don't know how to deal with worrying, I'm not a psychologist. The plans are to continue reading the book “How...

Record-breaking early drinking

What is your personal record for early drinking? Do you have one?  I, actually, WE made a record yesterday. Ready for this? Before 8 am. This may sound crazy, but the world itself is kind of crazy now. The story is  Sunday morning, our routine grocery shopping. Route 6 in Dartmouth, near BJ’s gas station. An empty road. We waited for the green light. We started to cross the road. All of a sudden I saw a car flying into my Buick. I stopped. The flying car also stopped, likely the driver managed to turn his car to the left and avoided the car's damage.  …. Once my husband told me that Russian truck drivers are very bad drivers. I asked why he got that impression. He said that there are a lot of videos on YouTube, and mostly from Russians. Well, there are a lot of videos just because Russians use dash cameras in their vehicles, and they post them online.  I am Russian too. I have been using a dash cam since we bought the Yaris (my first little car).  Here is...
